Movie Poster Homework

This is the movie poster for the movie Inception. I saw this movie in theaters and I also bought it when it came out on DVD. Its a really good movie. I very much enjoy the movie's poster as well. I like how the buildings in the background are from an eagle eye view so it seems like the world is wrapped around them. I also like how the people are standing spaced apart to make them seem more individual to each other. The movie's story very much did wrap around each character individually so I like how the movie poster has the same concept.

My idea for a design that would never work is a shoe that is filled with paint on the bottom and has small holes on the bottom of the sole to leave painted footprints as you walk around. The purpose of this is to be able to backtrack and find out where you have been. Say if you dropped your keys somewhere (which it happens to everyone quite frequently) then you will be able to go back and find them. The reasons that a product like this is that the paint would run out so it would cost a lot of money to keep buying more and a lot of effort to keep refilling them every few minutes worth of walking. You also will be left with having to clean up every footprint you leave, not to mention that paint ruins carpets, but you will end up spending more time cleaning than walking. I would also assume that a shoe full of paint would be pretty heavy to walk around in.

Good Design Idea

"Rapping" Wrapping Paper

I thought about how a lot of people in this day and age like rap music and i also thought of how everyone loves to receive gifts so I came up with "Rapping" Wrapping Paper. I also wanted to go with a more classic rap design so for my first design I used MC hammer. There will probably be more designs on the way. I will use any rapper so give me ideas or rappers that you would like to see on some "Rapping" Wrapping Paper.

Homework 1

I honestly disagree with most of what this article is about. The article states that this is a bad design due to the capitalized "D" but I think that it grabs attention, not distracts it. The sign is simple and makes its point. When someone reads it they know exactly what it means.

What is your computer experience?

I have grown up with computers so I am very computer savvy. I remember when I used to use a web-TV box for internet access. I also play a lot of video games so I am very familiar with how different mechanics of different technologies work.

What is your major class?

My major class is not definite right now but I am in pursuit of game design. I have grown up with video games and I would love to create them.

What do you hope to get out of this class?

I hope to gain some new computer and art experience out of this class. I also want to experience what it is like to work in this area of expertise with people who have the same goals as I do.

Who is your favorite artist?

My favorite artist is Leonardo Da Vinci. His work always creates visual stories and raises questions that only he knows the answer to. He is also in my line of ancestry.

Write a five line story.

After his long and strenuous journey, the adventurer finally reached his destination: the hidden grotto at the end of the cavernous dungeon into which he had ventured. In front of him lies a room full of translucent crystals that seemed to line the entire perimeter of the grotto. He cautiously approaches the center of the room in which there was one crystal of enormous size protruding through the ground. As he gently lies his hand on the crystal's surface, a faint glow begins to engulf his hand and his mind is thrown into a state of pure knowledge in which the human brain could never comprehend on its own. It was now that he had the knowledge and willpower to vanquish the dark and shadowy entity that had stolen away his dearly beloved's life.
